Words to find
A spring vocabulary activity
This printable 15 × 15 spring word search has 12 hidden words. Find the words in the grid to practise spelling and seasonal vocabulary. They may appear across, down, diagonally or backward. There is no timer; learners can work at their own pace.
Words to discover
Look for SPRING, BLOSSOM, RAINBOW, GARDEN, TULIP, BUDS, ROBIN, RAIN, SEEDLING, POLLEN, MEADOW and BUTTERFLY. Start with short words, then scan for distinctive pairs of letters in longer words such as SEEDLING and BUTTERFLY.
Mini science observation
Choose three words from the list, then look for signs of spring outdoors. You might see buds opening, insects visiting flowers or changes in rain and daylight. Observe without picking plants or disturbing wildlife. Weather and seasonal timing differ by region.
For teachers and families
Ask learners to sort the word list into plants, animals and weather. Which words could fit more than one group? Use two selected words in a sentence describing a real or imagined spring scene. This turns the puzzle into a brief reading and writing activity.
Print a spring worksheet
Use “Print puzzle” to print the unsolved letter grid and word list. Use “Print answer key” to print the correct paths separately. For a PDF, choose “Save as PDF” in the browser print dialog. A printer is optional.
Customize the challenge
Edit the words or change the grid size in the controls above, then select “New puzzle.” If working with younger children, remove longer words or use a smaller list before regenerating.
